The Battle of Hastings in 1066 was a significant event in English history. It marked the end of Anglo-Saxon rule and the beginning of Norman rule. The battle took place on October 14, 1066 and resulted in the death of King Harold Godwinson. William, Duke of Normandy, emerged victorious and was crowned King of England.
